Todai- Best Buffet in Singapore?

Another buffet!  I am not a big buffet fan, but many of my friends like it.  Since I am not the organiser, I will go with the flow.  I read about the review before heading, it seems like Todai is a heaven for seafood lover, the irony is that I cannot eat seafood!  Well, I am sure I can find something to eat.

Todai is huge, and divided into many sections.   I did not finish all the food, but I counted there were at least 8 sections:
1.  Sushi
2.  Fresh Seafood & Sashimi
3.  Hot Food Japanese
4.  Hot Food Western
5.  Italian
6.  Korean
7.  BBQ - Beef, chicken, Sweet potatoes (amazing good, though a bit dumb to eat sweet potatoes in a buffet)
8.  Japanese Live Station - Udon etc
9.  Chinese
10.  Dessert
11.  Free flow drinks

I started my dinner with the Sushi section.  Lots of selection, and they looked beautiful!

I then made my way to the most popular section of the restaurant where Singaporeans were fighting for the seafood.  There were fresh oysters, crabs, octopus, prawns, mussels..I think half the ocean creatures were there.  I could not eat, so I could not judge, but they did look very fresh and tasty.

I could eat mussels, cooked in lime and wine.
Escargots!  Baked in cheese, yummy.

Korean Corner:
Selection of desserts was amazing.  I could not remember their names, but I did sample most of them.

Todai also has this practice of a free cake and a polaroid photo for your table.  Not as classic as Morton's but it was good gesture.  They also had a Chilli Eating Competition.  The contestants had to wolf down bowls of spicy noodles to win tickets to Rain concert.  Many of them were in tears and red eye as they ate the noodles.

Complimentary cake
At $58+++ per person, may not be the cheapest dinner.  But if you are a big eater, and enjoy seafood, it is definitely worth the visit, especially in big groups where you can stay and eat as long as you want.
But do not expect Michellin Chef standard.

Lunch @ Mandarin Oriental

This lunch was organised by my boss, to celebrate the team hitting the target.  Well, technically i did not contribute much to it, since i joined them in mid july, and the FY ended on 30 Sep.  But again, I was part of the team, soooo i got to eat! Heehee
After much voting and consideration, we have decided on the lunch buffet at Mandarin Oriental - Melt the World Cafe.  While I did not really like buffet, a) I tend to over eat b) The quality may not be that good, i guess buffet was the easiest since boss needed to cater to 7 people's preference.  Buffet will just solve his problem!

I was amazed how beatuiful the desserts are, so while they were settling down to eat, I was busy taking my photo.  My favourite dessert among all was bread and butter pudding, it was a pity that i did not manage to take a photo as they were in the oven.  It was a match in heaven with the coffee to end the meal.

Too beautiful to be eaten!  Everyone of them had a fanciful name, which alas, I could not remember.

The mains.  I did not find them as enjoyable as the dessert.

Stirred fried beef, thai style.  Taste was alright, but too tough for my liking.

 Air dried beef

Overall is better than your normal buffet, but nothing special, except for the dessert.  Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable lunch.

Universal Studio Sentosa, Singapore

Finally I had a chance to visit Universal Studio Singapore!  My office had a half day business planning and team building in Resort World, Universal Studio Singapore on Friday.  We fianlly survivied the half day business planning, not that the topic was boring, but the room was freezing!  It was bright and sunny outside, but we were all covered up in the room, drinking hot water to keep warm.  There was nothing special about the seminar rooms in Hard rock cafe hotel, the bonus was that they served TWG tea!  The Morocoon Mint Tea was really nice!

Lunch was at Starz Restaurant.  Your usual buffet spread, average, though the dessert corner was quite good, especially the Italian Gelato, Lime flavour :-)
Colourful Dessert:

Tickets to Universal Studio!! Yeah
Since this was a company event, we were randomlu splited into groups by picking letters from a bag.  My team is Team H, H stands for Heng Heng, Heninken, Hao! Heehee...Other than taking the rides, each team would need to answer 10 questions, such as how mnay dinos were their in the Dino Ride?  How many dips in the mummy ride?  Which means while we were screaming our heads off, we need to count!
Team Heng Heng

Our first ride was the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure™ at the Lost World.  It was a water raft ride, and there was warning before we took the ride "Beware, you may get soaked"  We chose to ignore that, and did not purchase the poncho.  Guess what, we were all soaked!  I was wearning my wind breaker, so i was top was dry, but my pants were soaked.

Far Far away land..Made you feel like you are in a fairy land..where dreams come true.

Dar Dar:  This was our winning photo..a photo with Diane!  No other teams managed to get this photo, and they suspected that after we took a photo with Diane, we killed it.
One of my colleague was also famous because of Diane.  This was because she innocently asked a question:
"Is this real"
So i answered "No"
Another colleague went "Did you just ask if a Dinosaur is real?!"
hahahhahaha

Winning team taking a photo with our MD.
Another shot with Kungfu panda before we leave.  Due to time, they did not allow single photo with Panda..Is ok, I will be back.

Verdict:  Not as magical as Disney, but overall still enjoyable..Will be back :-)
